Charanga has been at the forefront of music education software development since the launch of their first titles in 1997. Their award-winning 'Coach' products have attracted the highest awards and received glowing praise from thousands of aspiring musicians around the world.

Charanga was founded in 1996 with the goal of providing everyone who has a musical instrument with a more effective and enjoyable way to learn and play. Before that time, people had looked to books, videos, and teachers for instruction. Using their own technology, Charanga set out to develop interactive learning products that would be much more effective and enjoyable than books and videos, and would improve the experience between lessons for those people learning with a teacher.

Feb 2001 - Charanga Sign Deal with Yamaha
Following lengthy negotiations, Charanga and Yamaha signed a deal whereby Charanga would develop a KeyboardCoach CD-ROM product and provide a special Yamaha lite version that will be distributed with every Yamaha keyboard since September 2001.

January 2001 - Charanga Partner with Fender
Since the beginning of 2001, everyone in the UK who buys a Fender Squier Beginners' Package also gets Charanga's excellent Electric GuitarCoach First Lessons CD, creating a package that provides all that a new guitarist needs.

January 2000 - The Launch of Electric GuitarCoach
Electric GuitarCoach was launched in January 2000 by Secretary of State for Culture Media and Sport, Chris Smith who said:

"Your GuitarCoach software impressed me hugely and I was also very interested to hear of your plans for expanding the company and for extending the range of instruments beyond the guitar….. I am sure it will lead to even greater triumphs in the future"

Spring 1999 GuitarCoach Awarded Millenium Product Status
GuitarCoach has been awarded Millennium Product status by the design council for its high innovation and high quality design. The award presented by Tony Blair, signalled a new round of product reviews including a 'Computer Active' 5 star 'Buy It' award.
